Ingredients:
- 4 oz Dry Soy Curls
- 2 cups warm water
- 3 tbsp Tamari or Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Maple syrup
- 1 tsp Liquid smoke
- 1 tsp Smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion powder
- 1/4 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp Avocado oil
Instructions:
- Place the dry soy curls in a bowl and cover with 2 cups of warm water. Let them sit for 10 minutes until soft.
- Drain the curls and wrap them in a clean, lint-free kitchen towel. Wring the towel forcefully to extract as much water as possible until the curls feel dry to the touch and slightly flattened.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the tamari, maple syrup, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Toss the squeezed soy curls into the glaze, ensuring every piece is thoroughly and evenly coated.
- Heat the avocado oil in a large heavy-bottomed skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat. Add the soy curls in a single layer and sear, pressing down with a spatula to ensure contact, until the edges are crispy and mahogany-colored.
