Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) baked beans in tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 can (12.3 oz) refrigerated biscuits
  • 1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Place the skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion, cooking until the meat is thoroughly browned and the onions are translucent. Drain the excess grease to prevent a soggy crust. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in the taco seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Pour in the BBQ sauce and baked beans, stirring constantly until the mixture is homogenized and begins to bubble. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and looks glossy.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour the beef mixture into the baking dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese across the top of the meat to create a moisture barrier. Place the canned biscuits in a single layer over the cheese, leaving a tiny gap between each.
  4. Whisk together the melted butter and garlic powder, brushing it generously over the top of each biscuit. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the biscuits have risen and reached a mahogany-colored, crisp finish.
